Ruppersberger Reelected to Sixth Term with Overwhelming Support
Congressman earns 65.4 percent of votes in Second District

Congressman C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger last night was reelected to a sixth term to the U.S. House of Representatives, earning 65.4 percent of votes in Maryland’s Second District. He issued the following statement:

“I first want to acknowledge the efforts of my opponent, State Senator Nancy Jacobs. I respect anyone willing to throw their hat in the ring and serve the public through elected office.

The debates are over and the people have spoken. They have said loud and clear that they want lawmakers who are willing to work together so that we can create jobs and avoid the looming fiscal cliff. These aren’t Democratic or Republican challenges.  They are American challenges and they require Members of Congress who will roll up their sleeves and work in a bipartisan manner on American solutions.

I have spent the past ten years working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle and will continue doing so as long as my constituents keep me in office.”
