(Timonium, Maryland) – Today Congressman C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger won the Democratic nomination for Maryland’s 2nd Congressional District. The Congressman received more than 60,000 votes from the four jurisdictions in the District including Anne Arundel County, Baltimore County, Harford County, and Baltimore City.

“As we head towards the General Election in November, I look forward to a spirited discussion about the issues facing Maryland families. Funding road and transit improvements, protecting the environment, strengthening our education system, ensuring our seniors have access to high quality, affordable prescription drugs, and taking care of our active military personnel and veterans are my top priorities. Team Maryland is also focused on getting Maryland ready for the influx of new jobs and the growth associated with the Base Realignment and Closing (BRAC) process at Fort Meade and Aberdeen Proving Grounds,” said Congressman C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger.

Congressman Ruppersberger is a Member of the powerful Appropriations Committee and is Chairman of the Technical and Tactical Intelligence Subcommittee. Congressman Ruppersberger is serving his third term in Congress. He was first elected to Congress in 2002. Congressman Ruppersberger faces Republican Richard Matthews in the General Election on November 4, 2008.
