Rogers, Ruppersberger Receive RSA’s 16th Annual Award for Excellence in Public Policy

SAN FRANCISCO — (BUSINESS WIRE) — RSA Conference (www.rsaconference.com), the world’s leading information security conferences and expositions, today announced the final recipients of its 16th annual awards program. Award applicants were judged in the field of public policy.

The recipients of this year’s RSA Conference Awards in Public Policy are:

Excellence in the Field of Public Policy Award
Mike J. Rogers, Chairman, House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence
C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger, Ranking Member, House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence

This year’s award winners are two public servants who have worked together to make improvements in national security. Congressman Mike Rogers has been a dedicated public servant since graduating from college in 1985; he has served Michigan’s 8th Congressional District in Congress since 2001. Congressman Ruppersberger has served in public office for more than 28 years and is currently serving his sixth term in the United States House of Representatives for the citizens of Maryland’s 2nd District.

In 2011, Congressman Rogers and Congressman Ruppersberger were named Chairman and Ranking Member of the House Intelligence Committee, respectively. Working together, they co-wrote The Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA). This Act seeks to allow for greater sharing of cyber threat intelligence between the government and the private sector and provides the tools and resources needed to defend ourselves in cyberspace. The steadfast dedication by both Congressmen to protect our nation’s security resulted in a bipartisan bill that passed the House of Representatives with over 100 co-sponsors from both sides of the aisle. When our adversaries seek to sabotage our nation’s ideas, infrastructure and ingenuity, these Members have made a commitment to protecting American jobs and innovation from cyber threats worldwide.
