WBAL TV: Maryland congressmen prepare for fight over Affordable Care Act

COLUMBIA, Md. — One of President Donald Trump’s biggest campaign promises is to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act.

The heated debate in Washington, D.C. made its way Sunday to Howard County where lawmakers spoke with concerned residents.

Three congressmen – Reps. John Sarbanes, Elijah Cummings and Dutch Ruppersberger –- were at the meeting in Columbia and said they are ready to push back against efforts to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, and they are asking their constituents to fight with them.

Sarbanes told those at the town hall meeting in Columbia that he expects Republicans to introduce a markup for a health care bill in the Energy and Commerce committee this week.
