Dutch Fights for Disabled Veterans

Timonium, Maryland - Dutch Ruppersberger continues his leadership role in military and veterans issues on the Hill. The Congressman has introduced legislation to increase funding and support for disabled veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. The bill has broad bi-partisan support and has been endorsed by over 40 military and veteran organizations.

"These men and women have served their country honorably and bravely. They deserve our help now to transition back to civilian life as they work to put their lives back together," said Congressman Ruppersberger.

House Bill HR 5057 will ensure that veterans who are severely disabled while in military service receive the assistance they and their families need for the transition from military to civilian life. It builds on the Army's Disabled Soldiers Support System (DS3) by providing additional resources and expanding the program to include service members from all branches of our armed forces.
